Updates Made To Several YouTube Components
Posted by Sean P. Aune under 1

YouTube has announced updates to some of their oldest features that promise to give enhanced usability to all users.
First, the inbox has received an overhaul that now allows you to see all of your messages in one view with much less load time. Video comments, responses, shared picks, friend invites and personal messages are now all on the same screen; you also can see how many unread messages you have in each category. Plus, legitimate users of the email system should see a lot fewer messages about sending too many things to friends, as they have purportedly improved their throttling program to thwart spammers. An improvement to the site’s privacy system is also included that will ensure message recipients the option to disguise their activities, enabling users to no longer notify senders that their messages have been viewed.
The contacts system also get a facelift, allowing you to organize them more quickly, see full account details, edit data for multiple contacts at once, as well as add real names and email addresses to make it more of a full-fledged manager.
Video management has gotten some attention, too. Visible changes show a much slicker interface with collapsible menus, more integrated information, and more editing options placed in the window.
For now the new features have been rolled out to a few accounts, but anyone can access them by paying a visit to the YouTube blog and following the links.
