A good number of bands and artists have gone to Imeem for special launches of their albums, but I can’t recall any of those artists being as much of a superstar as Scarlet Johansson. Yes, the recently engaged blonde bombshell of Hollywood’s silver screen is crossing over, and has smartly chosen a web-based media site for some free, pre-launch streaming of her album, which will be available in stores on May 20th. What timing.

I’ll hold off on my music commentary for now (this is a social media publication, after all), and speak on the use of a service like Imeem’s as a promotional tool for the Hollywood crowd.

Imeem has gained a great deal of traction in the last year or so, and has a fairly well integrated set for the social media crowd, along with API and platform offerings. The result is a good candidate for viral buzz-building amongst those looking for some online marketing tools.
