InterActiveCorp was acquired StarNet Interactive, the parent company of GirlSense, a social network for teen fashion. I will proudly admit that I have never used GirlSense, but poking around the site, the basic premise seems to be allowing teens to customize their virtual characters with different virtual outfits. There is also a lot of pink.

On a more serious note, the site does seem to fit in well with other IAC properties, such as Zwinky, the conglomerate’s virtual avatar offering. John Park of IAC says as much in a statement this morning:

“Part of our growth strategy includes acquisition of products and companies that complement our core competencies. Adding Girlsense.com to our existing teen targeted product portfolio provides us with broader teen mindshare, and access to the coveted tween demographic.”

According to the company, which is based in Israel, GirlSense has nearly 13 million registered users. Terms of the deal are not being disclosed.
