Finally, Twitter Gets Groups! Oh, Wait, Only in Japan

Loic Le Meur points on his blog to Twicco, a group/community feature for Twitter - but only in Japan. Twitter Japan is a joint venture between Twitter and Digital Garage, and it seems that the folks at Twitter decided that it’s a good playground for trying out some new features.

Groups, as most Twitter users know, is one of the most often sought features. Currently, many users use TweetDeck to organize Twitter into something akin to groups, but there’s almost no doubt that everyone would benefit from groups as an integral part of Twitter. Twitter developers may be afraid that it’s going to complicate the service that built its reputation on simplicity; perhaps if this experiment proves to be successful, they’ll integrate groups into the English version of Twitter.
